Communications Officer - Digital and Content

The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM)

Acre is proudly working with The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM)  in their search to appoint a Communications Officer, Digital and Content to support the organisation's digital communications activity across its website, social media channels and wider campaigns.

ICMM brings together around a third of the global metals and mining industry, alongside key partners, to drive leadership, action and innovation for sustainable development. Its members are committed to setting the standard for responsibly produced minerals and metals and to contributing positively to society through safe, just and sustainable mining.

ICMM is a globally connected and collaborative organisation, working across industry, civil society, investors, suppliers and other sectors to advance the role of mining in the sustainable development agenda.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, the role will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of digital content, ensuring ICMM's communications are engaging, accessible, consistent and aligned with organisational priorities. This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong writing and content skills with an understanding of digital channels, analytics and audience engagement.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across policy, programmes, communications and leadership, translating complex topics into compelling digital content and using data and audience insight to continually improve performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage ICMM's digital channels, including day-to-day website updates, CMS management, new pages and landing pages, content journeys, SEO, accessibility and digital asset management.

  • Create and manage social media content, developing platform-appropriate copy, graphics, social cards, short-form video concepts and campaign content while maintaining a consistent tone of voice.

  • Plan and coordinate digital activity, maintaining forward-looking content calendars across websites, social media, campaigns, events, publications and key external moments.

  • Use analytics and insight to optimise performance, monitoring website and social media data and making recommendations around content, formats, user journeys, search visibility and publishing schedules.

  • Support digital campaigns and paid social activity, working with ICMM's external agency partner on briefs, assets, feedback, spend and performance reporting.

About you

  • At least two years' experience in digital communications, content, website or social media, with hands-on experience managing organisational digital channels.

  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging and accessible digital content.

  • Practical experience using a CMS, alongside a good understanding of SEO, accessibility, content structure, user journeys and website quality assurance.

  • Experience creating digital assets for web and social media, including image editing, social graphics and short-form video content.

  • A creative, curious and organised approach, with the ability to use analytics and performance data to test new ideas, meet deadlines and continually improve digital communications.

Experience with Pimcore CMS, Google Analytics, Sprout Social or similar platforms would be advantageous, as would experience with paid social, campaign spend management or working within a membership, international, sustainability or policy-focused organisation.

Why join ICMM?

This is an opportunity to join an organisation at the heart of the global mining and metals industry and play a direct role in shaping how one of the world's most important sectors communicates its contribution to sustainable development.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative, purpose-driven team working on issues with global significance, while having the opportunity to bring creativity and innovation to ICMM's digital presence. ICMM offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a bonus, an 8% employer pension contribution, private medical insurance, flexible working and generous holiday and wellbeing benefits.

The organisation's Anywhere Anytime approach also provides genuine flexibility around how and where colleagues work, including remote working, variable hours and compressed or dispersed working arrangements.
