Acre is excited to partner with a leading global independent power producer, supporting its growth and transformation as it accelerates the transition to a lower-carbon energy portfolio. Operating across multiple international markets, the company is expanding its renewable energy footprint while delivering reliable power and energy management solutions.
As Senior HV / Substation Electrical Engineer, you will join our US Engineering team! In this role, you will report to the Head of US Engineering and Interconnection and will have the opportunity to be part of a talented team to develop, acquire, and deliver a multi-GW renewable energy portfolio that will help shape the future of clean energy in the United States.
You're perfect for this role if you have experience with utility-scale solar PV, BESS, or hybrid renewable projects; experience integrating plant electrical systems, collector substations, gen-tie facilities, and utility points of interconnection; and experience with substations at 115 kV or above. Familiarity with ETAP, SKM, ASPEN OneLiner, CYMCAP, PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, or comparable electrical analysis software; experience with factory testing, relay testing, commissioning, backfeed, and energization; experience managing engineering consultants and supporting EPC or major equipment contract negotiations; and a Professional Engineer licensure or an advanced engineering degree.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership on collector and interconnection substations, gen-tie facilities, main power transformers, high-voltage equipment, and protection and control systems supporting utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects.
- Lead HV and substation engineering from conceptual design and interconnection development through detailed design, equipment procurement, construction, backfeed, energization, commissioning, and commercial operation.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, utilities, and equipment suppliers to ensure successful project execution.
- Review engineering designs, technical studies, specifications, and project documentation to support quality, reliability, and compliance objectives.
- Contribute to equipment selection, procurement activities, and technical evaluations.
- Identify and manage technical risks, supporting effective decision-making across project development and delivery activities.
- Support construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities as needed.
- Assist in the development of engineering standards, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance to stakeholders and support the evaluation of new project opportunities.
Your Profile Is a Natural Match if You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of power engineering experience, including substantial experience with HV substations, generation interconnection facilities, or transmission-connected projects.
- Have worked with substations at 69 kV or above and with multiple project phases, including engineering, procurement, construction support, testing, or commissioning. Strong working knowledge of substation physical design, main power transformers, HV equipment, grounding, protection and control, auxiliary systems, metering, SCADA, and telecommunications.
- Experience developing or reviewing substation drawings, specifications, equipment data sheets, calculations, and electrical system studies. Experience specifying or technically evaluating main power transformers and other long-lead HV equipment.
- Experience coordinating engineering interfaces among utilities, EPC contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of applicable IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, NEC, NESC, utility, and interconnection requirements.
- Ability to travel for site visits, vendor facilities, and team events.
