Acre is partnering with a leading organization in the U.S. power sector to recruit a Senior Engineer, Generator Interconnection. This is an opportunity for an experienced power systems engineer to work on complex studies that help shape how new generation resources connect to the grid, supporting system reliability and the continued evolution of the electricity network.
Are you a power systems engineer who enjoys tackling complex technical challenges, analyzing power system behavior, and translating engineering studies into real-world decisions? This role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise to the evolving electric grid while collaborating with a broad range of industry stakeholders.
The Opportunity
In this role, you'll perform and manage power system studies that assess the reliability impacts of connecting new generation resources to the transmission system. You'll work with project stakeholders and internal technical teams to evaluate proposed projects, identify potential system constraints, and inform decisions on the requirements for reliable interconnection.
The position combines hands-on power system analysis, technical problem-solving, project ownership, and stakeholder engagement. Depending on your assignments, you may also lead system impact studies from kickoff through completion, coordinating technical work and keeping multiple stakeholders aligned.
How You'll Make an Impact
-
Lead and perform system impact studies for generator interconnection requests, evaluating how proposed generation projects affect transmission system reliability and identifying potential system constraints or required network upgrades.
-
Evaluate proposed transmission projects and provide technical recommendations informed by power system analysis and established reliability requirements.
-
Serve as a technical subject matter expert on assigned projects, communicating study findings, technical requirements, and project details to interconnection customers, transmission owners, neighboring grid operators, and internal teams.
-
Coordinate complex technical assignments, helping ensure studies progress efficiently and deliver clear, actionable results.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
Generator interconnection sits at the center of the energy transition and the rapid evolution of the electric grid. Your analysis will help determine how new generation projects move forward, what transmission improvements may be needed, and how the grid can accommodate a changing generation mix while maintaining reliability.
You'll gain exposure to a broad range of generation projects, transmission planning considerations, and industry stakeholders while continuing to develop your technical expertise. This role offers the opportunity to combine detailed engineering analysis with project ownership and meaningful collaboration across the electricity industry.
What We're Looking For
-
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline.
Preferred experience
-
Experience in power system planning, transmission planning, or power system operations.
-
Hands-on experience with power system modeling and analysis tools such as PSS®E, MUST, TARA, TSAT, or VSAT.
-
Previous experience in the electric utility, power generation, transmission, or broader energy industry.
-
Experience conducting power flow studies, system impact studies, or other transmission system assessments.
Experience with the listed software is beneficial, but candidates with relevant power systems study experience should consider applying even if they have used different tools.
